Hello All,

We have recently moved with our DS turning 2 in 2 months.
So yes, looking for nurseries and primary schools both private and state.
My concern however is should we be looking for primary schools as early as now?
I sit down and spend a couple of hours daily looking for the catchment areas of schools in my area and get disappointed everytime i get the results. The point is, the schools that are really good (state) have catchments the size of peas and that too with properties worth a fortune (atleast for me).

I am confused as ever whether private is the only option.?
I have been visiting schools on almost a daily basis and that iincludes state nurseries as well. I feel as if theres a big gap in the environment andbehavior of the school and students when compared (state vs private). Is it just me or there is really a big difference?

What chioices of schools do i really have? As far as i can see (through schoolsdirect website) i get coldfall. Primary school, martin primary, and other church schools (not an option for us). On the other hand, we visited Aldenham today and loved it.

What are the thoughts on how important the decision for nurseries is and what impact will it make on further educating my child.?

Go and have a look at Grimsdell (part of Mill Hill Foundation). Either half day nursey or reception entrance. Fantastic whole child ethos and lots of parents in the East Finchley/Muswell Hill area. PM me if you want more specific details.

Martin Primary has a large catchment area, Ofsted outstanding (though SAT results aren't great.

For nursery, Fortis Green is very good. Both my kids have gone/go there
