Teachers- has your school sorted out TLRs yet?

Ours were done on Friday. I wasn't applying, but I am hoping that the movement they will bring on will let me change year groups in September. I am desperate to be class based for a while instead of teaching only ability based sets.

The new structure has been sorted out but we don't have to apply for our new roles for a couple of weeks. I have been quietly asked to apply for one of the new positions on offer and I'm thinking about it! I've only been at this school since September. The school has used this as an opportunity to revamp some of the job descriptions and they sound more interesting now.

I've been back in class this year, after 2 years teaching ability groups and it's been great. In some ways i've felt like an NQT again, a bit odd after 10 years, but i'm really, really enjoying it. I hope you get your wish!

I don't know if I will as my head has a tendency to play everything by the book and so would ask me to apply for the class based post. However there are 2 staff who have asked to go part time and my job atm would definitely suit one of them.

We've got to apply for everything formally but I get the impression that in many cases this will just be a formality. Our head is a bit of a law unto herself anyway!! Have you spoken to your head about want you want? I'm sure heads would rather employ good teachers that they know well. I was really fortunate to get a job where I teach as they are a training school and very rarely advertise externally. I was the first 'outsider' they'd employed for about three years, but even then they knew me because the DSs are at the school, so I wasn't an unknown quantity!!

as far as i know (i'm on maternity leave at the mo), they've sorted out what each TLR will be responsible for in each dept and the new job descriptions will come into being from sept, BUT everyone not on or applying for a TLR has their pay 'frozen' for 3 years at the stage they are at now. i decided not to go for one of the 3 TLRs in our dept as the job descriptions our HoD came up with was longer than when i was 2nd in dept (and for less money). so i'll stay on my old pay for 3 years and in that time hopefully suss out what i want to do. a lot can happen in 3 years...

were longer. tsk bloody english teachers

um, can you tell me what TLR stands for? i'm not currently teaching in the UK so not up-to-date with recent jargon but my curiosity has got the better of me!
