BRIT school BDC audition....

My DS has an audition/interview next thurs for above mentioned course. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this subject please?
Can I find out how many applications there were to how many got auditions. I think there are only 24 places available.... Eek.... To add to the stress

My DD is going for an art workshop and interview next Thursday for the art stream. From what students at the open day said, it was really the music and performance related courses that were very oversubscribed. They thought that for art, you mainly needed enthusiasm, though of course you need to bring a portfolio (or equivalent for BDC).

I would have thought that as BDC is new to the BRIT they won't get as many applicants as the other courses. When we went for the open evening I thought they were really pushing it - of course I could be wrong but a lot of people go by tried and tested and word of mouth.

I would however get your DS to read through his application form and be ready to talk about what he had done and show his enthusiam for his subject. Might be a good idea to have a google for what is current in the world of BDC so that he can talk about his inspirations, likes/dislikes etc.

Oops think I mixed up BDC and the new Creative Design & Technology. In any event a couple of the art kids I spoke to said they had applied for music etc and hadn't got in but had been invited to try for art, so not all courses are very oversubscribed.

I saw massive queues for music on the open day and musical theatre seemed very popular as well, so I think the bulk of the entries are for that and dance.
