I am looking at applying for a job as a school nurse within a local boarding/day school. Do they tend to offer a discount off school fees when you are an employee of the school?

Varies between schools; whether offered at all, to all staff or designated roles (may be teachers only) or amount of discount (and whether the same for all categories of staff).

You'll have to ask at interview (shouldn't look too pushy if salary and other benefits are discussed).

Or sometimes is based on length of service. Have you looked at their vacancies section, it sometimes says there.

I know that in ours there is a discount for full time staff, less for p/t but both are means tested.

They offered discounts to all staff at my DS's prep school.

I am a school nurse in what is often described on MN as a "big name" senior boarding school and have worked in two others its a relatively small world and I don't know of any nurse getting any discount on the fees, at a prep school you might be luckier. You got money off at the school I went to (reasonably big name senior boarding school). It was the only reason lots of the ancillary staff were working there.

It suited them and suited the school as they got naice employees to look after their brood of boarders.

I have no idea if it still operates like that.
