Choices - Dulwich Pre.p London vs King's Rochester Prep.

Hello mummies
I need your thoughts and advice on the two schools in the subject. Our boy has been offered a place at both schools to start year 3 in September and we are not sure which one to go with. We have been to both schools and we like both the same and so does our boy.
we intend to move and live closer to the school we choose. The fees at Kings are slightly lower. Dulwich prep comes seems highly regarded in a lot of discussions here whilst we haven't seen any discussions about Kings.
your thoughts are greatly appreciated

Friends DS goes to Kings Rochester he said its full of "wealthy thick chavs" make of that what you like!

Ds is in year 3 at the prep and is very happy there, he has been there since nursery. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions, or i'm happy to meet up for a coffee and a chat if you're in the area....

Sorry should have said at dulwich prep. Am used to calling it the prep to distinguish it from dulwich college junior school!

Friends rave about dulwich and legalaien is 'very normal', so am sure tis fine school *

Don't know any of the kids at kings, rochester but they compete against our DC's school quite often. They seem like a normal, sporty bunch of kids. Rochester a slightly odder catchment area - they compete with dulwich to the north, Sutton valence to the west and kings, canterbury to the south. All three of those schools are popular, so not sure if kings Rochester suffers from this or not. I could easily believe a comment about wealthy thickos, although I had an old boy working for us recently and his dad is one of the masters. Both father and son were reassuringly clever.

FWIW, I'd rather be living close to dulwich than living close to Rochester, but I am a raging snob.

Oh, yes, forgot about the name change (which is a bit daft as i only did it a week or so ago) Last saw you in rush hour at London bridge. (having drinks with strix tomorrow, BTW, if you are around in the city...). By same token, happyg probably has no idea who I am (we exchanged pms recently about some Kent schools).

Probably a bit late in adding my comments but here goes anyway! Friend's DS goes to King's Prep and loves it. Friend delighted with the way he has settled so quickly and with progress he's making. Harsh comments happygardening! Friend did all the research before sending DS there and King's KS2 results are pretty amazing every year.

I am moving from London to Gravesend and have heard good things about Kings Rochester.

If the other two individuals that called young children "posh chavs" don't send their children to Kings Rochester that is one selling point to going there.

Last time I looked education was open to everybody. I work as a university lecturer at one of the best university's in central London. I can't talk for prep education, but class and chav'ness do not always factor in to how well your child will do when they are trying to find the career of their dreams post BA come age 21.
