Bucks areas/schools

Hi

We're thinking of moving to Buckinghamshire to be closer to family and before DS has to apply for secondary. I'm aware that we'd have to think about 11+

What areas are nice and have reasonably good schools? Are there any areas of High Wycombe that are ok? Can't afford to live in Beaconsfield or similarly priced area. We want to stay in South Bucks as that's where family is, so Aylesbury too far north

Want to know about both state and private schools

Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Have you considered Hazlemere? It's pretty much an outer suburb of High Wycombe and a good family area. Heard good things about the local state primaries: Hazlemere C of E, Manor Farm and Cedar Park. At secondary level, you're in catchment for Royal Grammar School, Beaconsfield High and Wycombe High, and Holmer Green secondary modern is a popular choice too depending what happens with 11 plus.

Burnham maybe? Great little village with reasonable priced housing and Burnham Grammar School is friendly and locally respected.

Windsor is 15 mins away which is great.

Also if you want private there is Dair House very locally or (as I intend to do) you could use the school minibus to Lambrook from Eton- it's 10mins to the busstop across the fields.
