No idea. Why the interest?

Lfs2126 · 31/12/2012 20:10

I'm only interested as my ds 's school falls into this bracket[smile

Emmanuel??? Just a guess.

Sparklingbrook · 31/12/2012 20:19

Oh right. Is it to avoid or to get a place? Grin

EweBrokeMyManger · 31/12/2012 20:21

Well that would be v close to the bit of wandsworth that Gordon ramsey lives in. Why am I even commenting on this? For shame.

EdnaScoggins · 31/12/2012 20:22

Yeah, no shortage of sleb kids there. Wink

Lfs2126 · 31/12/2012 20:31

hi sparklingbrook, no ds already at sec. school. I'm sure parents would be in the loop by now though as it must be quite a logistic nightmare taking on the kids of 'VIP's'.

I thought it was Harrodian?

LynetteScavo · 31/12/2012 20:41

I'm guessing the eldest will be going into Y9, the second in to Y5.

Didn't realise they were moving back to the UK...

LynetteScavo · 31/12/2012 20:43

I don't think it would be a logistic nightmare.

The school will do their thing...the families security will do theirs....although places at certain schools will open up if, um... donations are high enough.

Lfs2126 · 31/12/2012 21:08

hah,cynical, vous?[wink

I thought they were looking at that Haberdashers place.

difficultpickle · 01/01/2013 18:06

Wasn't that a couple of years ago. It was all over the press a couple of months ago that they had been to Harrodian. Ds has VIPs at his school and other than my living in fear of him being invited to a playdate it has had no impact at all.

uptheamp · 01/01/2013 18:09

it's hard to get into haberdashers isn't it? even with lots of money Wink

ValentineWiggins · 01/01/2013 18:11

Harrodian afaik

Happymum22 · 07/01/2013 01:46

Seen in the news online somewhere daily mail that she's looked round Harrodian for the boys and Pembridge Hall School for the girl.. Obviously that means nothing though just looking round!
Would be very very odd being teacher of one of their DC at parents evening having those two turn up!

Copthallresident · 07/01/2013 19:30

I imagine lots of Fathers will be working out in advance of Sport's Day.....

mrsshackleton · 09/01/2013 11:17

The Standard said they started y'day. Was it the Harrodian in the end?

splintersinmebum · 09/01/2013 11:22

I wonder how the boys will feel about leaving that Californian sunshine behind

mimbleandlittlemy · 09/01/2013 11:52

I have heard on the west London Harrodian grapevine that they've been given a two week trial to see if they like it, which is very different to every one else who has to pass the exam, but that's the advantage of being rich and famous as 'any fule kno'.

Annelongditton · 09/01/2013 12:43

Harrodian makes sense if the boys are good footballers.

The Independent Schools Football Association use Harrodian as a training base because it's facilities are so good, some of their staff help with the training and they are the best football coaches I've ever seen. ( and I've seen a lot - DS totally sport mad)

It really is a beautiful school. DS attends a concrete jungle in Twickenham and he's very jealous.

Mrsrudolphduvall · 09/01/2013 13:10

Ooh I visit the Harrodian through work.
(goes off to buy control pants)

Farewelltoarms · 09/01/2013 13:25

How does it work, applying for sought-after schools if you're a celeb then? I mean most parents returning from abroad with three boys of varying ages might find it a bit tricky to get them all into same school (state or private). Is there a VIP room in schools so they don't have to queue behind same rope as 'civilians' to get into this particular club?
I know round here, it doesn't matter how selective the school, the celebrity children always seem to coincidentally get through the 3+ assessment. A small celeb child named after a fruit, I remember, got through to v sought-after school and others who also did claimed that it was definitely because the girl must be really clever like their own offspring, that the school had no need of celebrity endorsement.
And I thought, hmmm...

mimbleandlittlemy · 09/01/2013 15:13

The Harrodian has a bit of a celeb clientele and as classes are small it's easy enough to fit in an extra desk, especially when you know someone's good for the £16k a year plus lunch money.

My old school used to play sport there when it was still the Harrods staff club/playing fields so it is forever linked in my mind with vile blue 'gym knickers', vile changing rooms and the hell that was Tuesday afternoon hockey Grin
