Just another little rant about ds1's teacher...

They get a maths sheet on a Wednesday, to be handed in Friday. Last week's prompted a thread from me about how to help him with his homework without strangling him as we had tears, tantrums and slamming doors (and that was just me...)

Anyway he did it, and duly took it in on Friday. Only they had a field trip on Friday so the sheets weren't collected. He was off sick on Monday and Tuesday. I just noticed last week's maths sheet is still in his bookbag, unmarked - I asked him and he said his teacher had said "if it wasn't in on the right day I don't mark it" (she doesn't mark them anyway, they mark their own).

By my reckoning it was in on the right day - so even if this is her policy I don't think it's correctly applied in this instance.

But she's leaving on Friday (hoorah!) so I'm not going to go in...again.

That sounds familiar. Right down to the slamming doors and tears...and that's just me! Grin We've spoken to the teacher about hw as it's a real problem and she told us it was to instill discipline and get them used to it.... great...
It has to be in on Friday morning so that she can mark it at her daughters' music lessons on Friday evening...apparently. But there have been occasions when the hw has been there and not marked....infuriating.

Hi SL, I looked after a little boy (he was 8) and the teacher told them to do page 41, section A. He accidently did 41 B. but they were all correct. She refused to mark them and put a big red cross through his work.
I'm glad to hear your DS's teacher is leaving, it's teachers like that that can scar you for life! (and both my parents were teachers! Nightmare Grin)
