PTA - registered as a charity?

is your PTA a registered charity? If it is how did you go about it? Is it a long winded process? I raised this issue on Friday at our PTA meeting as the law states if you raise more than £1000 a year you must be registered - we're not! I was told "oh it's too long a process with lots of forms to fill in and the governors had to act as a guarantee and they refused! So we idn't do it" Obviously if we want to go on fundraising we now have to but was wondering how easy the process is!

you need to have a look at \link{http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/registration/default.asp\this} website.

It is a bit of a pain to register and you do need to find people to be trustees, but it does have advantages (gift aid, special rates etc)
