Nursery acceptance

I am so thrilled just have to post. DD got into the nursery where I want her to go. It is of course attached to the primary school where I want her a DS to go. And, as nursery gets priority intoo the recetion class, getting DD into the nursery is a fantastic thing... Just wanted to share my good news Grin

Hope other people are getting in where they apply.

Awww... nobody is happy for me (or DD). Sad

I am - that's fab news!!

I've not heard about nursery for ds2 yet - there is no priority for nursery children into reception though. I'm going to be more worried next year getting him into reception. Ds1 is already at the school.

Uwila · 20/03/2006 12:47

Thanks. Grin

Do you get priority for syblings?

We do. That's why so much is riding on her entry into nursery. It will (probably) get her into reception. Then when DS is ready for nursery he will (probably) get in based on having a sybling in the school.

Ahhhh... I can rest now and not have to worry about the cost of private school until they are 11.

Congrats to you, Uwila Smile. I'm waiting to hear about our Primary school application...

GDG · 20/03/2006 12:50

Used to have sibling priority as the school used to do its own admissions. Changed this year and now the LEA does it - sibling priority has gone so it's just whether in zone or not. Really annoyed as I kind of calmed down once ds1 got in. We are in zone so not toooo worried but deffo don't feel as confident as I did before.

Uwila · 20/03/2006 12:53

Gosh, the school we are going to has recently added syblings to the criteria because a few years ago one twin got in and the other didn't. Of course twin 2 was first on the waiting list and did get in as soon as someone turned down a place. But it raised the alarm bells and they added sybling to the criteria.

Ours is a church school so they set their own criteria. (though it largely follows the LEA criteria)

Thanks, NDP. All thi waiting is so nerve racking. I feel like I'm going back to nursery. It seems crazy that parents are driven to this competitiveness over 3 year olds!

But, I'm in... I mean DD is in. I can calm down now.

I went to register my dd (2.5) this morn and was told she missed the August intake by 5 days! This means she won't start until January.

Blu · 20/03/2006 12:59

Very pleased for you, Uwila - the nail biting over school admission is...nail-biting. Glad you are sorted.

Uwila · 20/03/2006 13:00

You mean they had closed the admissions 5 days ago or her birthday is 5 days too late for Aug. admissions?

Her birthday is 5 days too late.

It's not a problem for us. We are in Scotland and things are a bit different here. I was just surprised that it only 5 days.
