Music afterschool?

Hello!

We want to teach our 6 year old daughter playing violin, but would like to do it not just via a private tutor, but in some environment like evening or Sunday school.

We found there is a school called ColourStrings: www.colourstrings.co.uk

Which provides environment for musical education, but unfortunately it is too far from us (and also a very long waiting list there).

Does anybody know about other schools like ColourStrings where children can have musical tuition somewhere near Kingston-Upon-Thames?

The instrumental tuition in our school is done mostly in groups. You have to pay extra for a private lesson. Is it worth checking out what the school offers?

You might check out the British Suzuki Institute to see if there is a Suzuki group in your area.

We are in a public school, it does not offer any instrumental tuition.

Stringbabies? Local music service?

I'd try music service www.kingston.gov.uk/browse/education/musicservice/instrumentaltuition.htm. Does individual lessons plus access to a training orchestra. Although a strings programme would be my favoured option for a 6yo starting violin, this looks good too. I'm not a big fan of suzuki, but thats probably because I don't think my kids would put up with it :)

If you can travel to Ealing, Questors Young Musicians Club is lovely. It has classes on Saturday. Currently located at Little Ealing Primary School - not connected with the theatre.
