Sats year 9

I have posted this in the teenager section but I thought I would put it here as more people will probably read it.

My dd is 14 and is about to do her year 9 sats. She is desperate to get a level 8 because next year they are streamed at school according to their sats results (only in maths). Do any of you know if there are any additional topics that they need particularly to know for a level 8? For example, do they need to know about quadratic equations? She is not a particularly gifted mathematician, but she is a good plodder and works hard.

I am sure that lots of you will be wondering why I would be worried about her getting a level 8 when it is clear that she must be pretty good at maths anyway. She is worried that all her friends will get the level 8 and not her and she would feel a fool. Awful I know, but if I can help her in anyway that I can, then I will,

Thanks!

can you get a practise paper from e.g. WHSmiths and she could either try it or just look through it to see the types of questions asked? (If the later she might be able to thumb through it herself in the shop to check what was covered without even buying it)

Hiya
sorry I just had a quick look and found it. It is www.emath.co.uk/SAT.htm. there are many papers on there including the level 6-8 papers. Hope this helps.
