Hi all,

my son needs to get the train and I have just been told that we are slightly over the distance rule for free transport (under 15 miles) from the faith school my son has a place at, although qualify apart from that.
He will actually walking the last part of the journey, so the transport needed is for less than 15 miles although he distance door to door is just over.
The train ticket is really expensive and there is no alternative transport.
I have not yet been able to fine a discounted pass for a child ticket, or season ticket.
Can anyone advise us if they have any suggestions please.

Thank you for your time and help.

Even though he will be walking the last bit I doubt you would be able to get any help.

Here in West Yorkshire there are a variety of different passes for buses and trains for children. I know over the border in Greater Manchester they have various passes I'm assuming your DS is under 16 if not would a young person rail card help cut costs. Have you googled your local transport provider?

15 miles?!!!!! Assuming he is under 17 and over 8 and it's your nearest denominational school the rule is 3 miles not 15. You should qualify easily!
