Can any art teacher (AS) help on remarking portfolio rules?

DD1 is currently having a melt down, shes waiting for A level art results.

Although she got a B at AS first time around, she resubmitted her work to improve her A level grade when it comes out.

Unfortunately, her resubmission didnt include the As prep work, ( about 40% of as grade (she just found this behind the bed!).

She is in tears thinking that her resub will be a u and this will pull down her A level grade. Obviously school is out so there is noone to talk to ,and I need to be pragmatic about this.

Can she elect to go back to the oringinal grade or, will they care, or do we have to go to appeal after the A level art comes out?

How very worrying for your daughter.
Have you actually tried getting hold of anyone at school? I thnk the admin staff wil still be in, and you may find some teachers still answering emails. DS head of 6th form is replying to emails despite being away on a family holiday.

Hope your dd is able to get ths sorted.

Thanks a lot JGBM, I did think their wasn't a chance with the school,it being summer hols and all, but i'll talk to her again and see if she can do as you suggest and get back to an art tutor, to talk her round. Kind of both think that shes scupered until the results come out. Then she has to face her options.
really appreciate the reply though ,thanks.

The highest mark will count towards her final grade

lemonpie7 · 11/08/2012 23:44

The highest mark will count if she has done it twice, if you ask for a remark, the last result will count,. Examiners are not monsters, and can be approached ( through the school) if there has been a mistake - however you are leaving this extremely late, the exams officer should have been in touch with the exam board weeks ago about this.. Don't waste any time, get in touch with the school immediatly.

Not by email. Don't ever expect staff to respong to emails out side of term time, or even to look at them.

Just reread, are you saying it was done again? In which case the highest mark will count. Or that she asked for a remark? In which case the last mark will count.

Exam results came out and shes got a B, dont presume to understand where it came from after the doom and gloom from Dd, and dont want to ask!
As usual, mn (jgbm,hc and lp7) your sensible replies and care were the support we needed. Thanks.
