I have 2 and half year old DS - and would like to put him Perse.
We are working parents and can some one tell me if many kids in The Perse come from a rich/extremely rich background ? or do normal middle class kids are in good proportion ?

Eh?

Probably better to post this on the Cambridge forum.
If your DS is only 2, you are presumably thinking of the Pelican (unless you are planning well ahead). Perse parents tend to be professionals (doctors/scientists/academics etc) rather than the "rich" (who would be more likely to go to the Leys).

AFAIK the Perse is academically selective - a friend of mine rRegistrar, husband a consultant) was stressing because her younger DS might not get the required L3 at KS2 and be allowed in.

From my perspective (middle class, DH and I both working, relatively comfortable) the Perse is still for the very rich and the Leys is lottery-winning territory, but we're happy with the (state) schools where we live anyway.

So I'd start planning now, but keep your options open school wise - there are a lot of good independents in Cambridge and not all are selective, so you are likely to find a good education for your DS somewhere - all the best!

Link to fees page here - bear in mind cost of uniforms and other extras will come on top of this.
