DS Pushed over at school..face is a mess!!

My ds is in reception and has been having a few problems with yr1 boys.

Collected him from his childminders (who collects him from school) on Wednesday and she said he had had a fall...i looked at him and couldnt believe it! all down his face is grazed..his lip was huge and his teeth are cracked...the school didnt mention anything to the childminder and she didnt notice it until she was up the road abit.

Apparently 3 boys had pushed him onto the playground at lunchtime.

His dad called the school and the teacher explained that the boys in question had been punished and their parents called...why didnt they call me then at the same time?? Or at least a note in his bag about it!

Is their anything else i should do or do i hope these boys have learnt their lesson by whatever punishment was given??

My ds has also started wearing glasses this week so his confidence is very low and im worried this is the start of something worse...i am also worried he will hit back because he is not a weak child and normally stands up for himself.

It breaks my heart to think someone is hurting him and i cant do anything about it.

Poor poor little ds (same age as my ds1), how awful for you all. Makesure you get your questions answered by the teachers in person, is there anyway you can get to see them yourself?

I would say you need to make yourself heard on this one.

You need to speak to the head and the local education authority on this one. The teachers/schools proceedure is rubbish and needs to be reviewed. Take it to the highest level you can.

Kids will always get into scrapes/scraps. Its heartbreaking when our little ones get hurt.

However, the school should at the very least, rang you and informed you that he'd had an accident, let alone that he was pushed. Its not good enough to have to chase them up for information. Complain very loudly about this.

I agree, the school is neglegent for not letting you know for such a bad scrap. If my ds even has the slightest bump at school, I receive an official note in his book bag. They do tend to get in some scraps but the fact that these were older children is a worry. Where was the supervision in the playground? If you can I would go and see the Head teacher in person.
They must not get away with this!
Sorry if a bit angry, I can't abide hearing this sort of thing. These are our kids and we entrust them to these people. I am lucky my ds school is fab.

Um... out of interest, since his face is that bad how did the CM not notice immediately??!

These things do happen though :( The boys have apparently been punished and I would hope that this means the school are alert for any further problems and are ready to jump on it quickly (and I would make this assumption clear in any communication with the school on this matter). The school not telling you/the CM though is unacceptable - you should have got an explanation when your DS was picked up.
