In our primary school, not only do they do tests in Year 2 and Year 6 but also do 'sats' type of assessments in year 3, 4 and 5. As far as I know, no all schools do this.

We had a sats meeting last night ( Year 2 ) and she told us about test type thing in year 3 called PIPS (I Think ) It has to be done in the first term and I think she said they had them in year 4 and 5 . They are ok and just a checking system to see if the kids are on target and to make sure they are not slipping in some areas .

ds did PIPS in October but only because he was new to the school and the continuing children had had them at the end of Year 2. Not sure if they resit them this year or if they just do internal tests.
