Not what I would call safe sex - would you?

The Terrence Higgins Trust gets £10 million per year from the government to push its "health advice". It produces leaflets and websites and trains 14-19 year olds to go and tell others about "safe sex". But its idea of safe sex is more like what other people would call hard-core porn or downright perversion.

Evidence is on these sites but they are NASTY I warn you.

Should these people be educating your children and mine in British schools? Should revolting pornographic material be funded with tax-payers' money?

You'll go blind, you know.

FuckityFuckFuck · 12/07/2012 23:28

Tethersend :o

I fail to see how Ken dolls can be hard-core porn

Cringey - yes
Revolting pornographic material - No

KatherineKavanagh · 12/07/2012 23:29

That's too much. My ds is 14 next month, no way would I let him see that!

KatherineKavanagh · 12/07/2012 23:30

No sign of sindy was there...

mossity · 12/07/2012 23:37

I think it's fab! :-) just wondering if maybe u are a slight homophobe???

FuckityFuckFuck · 12/07/2012 23:40

Ken wouldn't go near Sindy

even if Barbie did dump him for that awful surfer dude, he still has standards :o

KatherineKavanagh · 12/07/2012 23:41

Wonder if Barbie and Sindy get it on if they do a girls version of that eaflet! Grin

Empusa · 12/07/2012 23:41

There is no way in hell this is given to school kids. Either you are extremely gullible or you have an anti-sex education agenda.

FarelyKnuts · 12/07/2012 23:57

Might there be a slight agenda to your post OP? Ken dolls in hard core porn shocker? Seriously?
Where is your "evidence" of them training 14yos to go out and share these educational leaflets?

piprabbit · 13/07/2012 00:06

Why do you think that materials developed specifically for adult gay men are being given to children in schools?

Is it because you are a little over-excited?

whatinthewhatnow · 13/07/2012 00:29

really? given to school children? Are you sure? This sounds like Daily Mail paranoia to me. Also Grin at 'health advice' in inverted commas. I think THT just try to stop people getting AIDS. That sounds like pretty conventional health advice to me. Not 'health advice'.

when i was at school we had someone from THT come and talk about sexual health and it was the only sensible advice I received from anywhere. They're a great organisation and if they want to educate my children about safe sex, they have my blessing - I'm pretty sure they contributed to my lack of STIs and unwanted pregnancies, much more than my mum's "god will be sad if you do it" attitude.

I read somewhere recently that teenage boys masturbate at least once a day. as far as i can see they are all dirty little buggers and unless we educate them properly they will (as many of them do now) go around getting nasty diseases. All boys have cocks. Teaching them about how they work seems a pretty sensible thing to me. Pretending that boys aren't talking about cocks and cum and blow jobs and all those other things is burying your head in the sand. Some teenagers are gay. They need good honest information too.

It's certainly better than my own efforts will be when my now 4 year old ds reaches teenage years: my attempts at answering his questions about how babies get in mummies' tummies recently led to the fairly priceless line 'so when I'm a grown up I have to put my seed in my sister's mouth so it can go in her tummy and she can have a baby'. I'm awaiting a call from SS.

Krumbum · 13/07/2012 00:43

I'd rather kids knew about how to be safe. There's nothing wrong about them knowing sex acts exist. They gonna find out sometime! It's not encouraging them to try but explaining how to do it safely if they do.

This appears to be the background to this: www.alansangle.com/?p=1035

They took down some of the material after that blog post.

sashh · 13/07/2012 05:04

OK so following MonkeyNuts link - they tell you what a few words mean, what is wrong with that?

Maybe we should ban the Oxford English Dictionary.

tethersend · 13/07/2012 08:25

The OED is sick and evil.

PurplePidjin · 13/07/2012 08:50

14-19 is your average Youth Club. So what, we're not supposed to educate the older ones in case the younger ones catch a glimpse? Hmm

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 13/07/2012 15:17

Oh god its so shocking....

Look here [http://www.tht.org.uk/sexual-health/Sex/Sex-and-you/Ready-for-sex_qm_] THT are advising young people that they shouldn't feel pressured into having sex just because their mates are boasting about it.

Shock Hmm
