Hi All,

I have a few Q regarding schooling in London:

I have 4.5year old Twins a Girl and a Boy ( March 2008 born). I am moving to London from India ( Mumbai ) They have gone to pre school here i.e Playgroup and Nursery and Junior Kindergarten. We ( Until I went for delivery) are currently staying in Stratford. Now we plan to move into a bigger house ( area not decided.)

Please suggest how would they seek admission if I come to London tentatively in August 2012. And would they get admission in Reception or will I be able to put them only 2013 in Grade 1.

If they get admission only for 2013 then where do I put them for the current year.

Is there a January intake in any good school in any area ( I can move to stay in that area). I dont want my kids to loose a year and more so since the kids love going to school.

I am totally confused right now so may be my Q are also not clear.

If someone could please help in lightening my state of mind.

Warm Regards
Priya

They will start in their correct year whenever you move house. ie they can start anytime in the year.

When you have a house you just ring the LEA and find out which schools have vacancies in there year and then choose which one you want to send them to.

If you move in Aug and want them to start in Sep that is fine - but you will only be able to chose from the schools that still have places. Which in London will be not many.

Thanks Indigobell.

Is there a site where I can check schools which have vacancies.

There are lots of different LEAs in London.

I think you'll need to ring them to find out which have admissions - but space is very tight this year.

Maybe post a thread in primary ed for suggestions of where in London to move to.

Thank you so much Indigobell.

Could you please give me the link for posting a thread to primary ed or may be a email or a phone number.

I mean here on Mumsnet. You've started this thread in 'education'. Start a new thread in 'primary education'
