I have rented a place in St. Albans - Hollywell Hill and will move ASAP. I want some advice regarding primary school places. The closest schools are- Abbey Cof E(97m), St. Peters (474 m) Aboyne Lodge ( just unde a mile). Reading forums I just came to know about over subscription for primary school places. Does anybody have an idea if there's any chance of my daughter getting a place in any 3? As i have not studied in UK can somebody guide as to what will happen if my daughter is not given place in preferred schools?

Go on the HertsDirect website and look up school admissions. Somewhere on there it will tell you the furthest distance away the last child admitted to each school was, for the last couple of years.

How old is your daughter?

If you don't get a place at one of your preferred schools you will be allocated a place at the nearest school with places available.

In that case you will be applying this autumn for a place next September. As Clam says, the information on the HertsDirect website will give you an indication as to how likely you are to get a place. You should also take a good look at the admission criteria used by each school. You may find that you will increase your chances of getting into one of the nearby schools if you attend church regularly, for example.

Hi I'm looking for a childminder for November in St. Albans. Any suggestions?
