Anyone have DC sitting CE this week?

My eldest DD is sitting CE this week. She has already sat her French and Spanish orals and listening but thats it.

DD and her classmates have been studying so hard recently - I will be glad for them when this week is all over. I have every faith in DD but have to say I do feel slightly in edge this morning that we dont actually have a plan B, if it does not go according to plan despite not worrying at all before.

Good luck to anyone in the midst of CE this week.

Yes, our DS is taking CE too. He has been quietly revising over the holiday, and from chatting to him I'm certain that all will be absolutely fine. This doesn't stop me and DH from feeling totally shredded though; can't wait for it to be over, it's far worse than when I took my own exams!

DS doesn't (exempted) but most of his mates do. Good luck to all.

Yes I am surprised how nervous I feel on behalf of DD today.

I am hoping for a call home tonight to hear how todays papers went.

Good luck everyone. Ours was exempted too and I am so glad I didn't have as long a wait as all you have. Really thinking of you. :)

Queenofcake any news? DS rang yesterday and said it was all going well ('French was really easy'!). Still feeling a bit nervous though!

Hi Ingrid,

Well DD called home Monday night and sounded happy. Said she had not quite finished the 2nd part of her English paper (which I am a bit Hmm about) as they spent loads of time learning Exam timing etc. But I didnt let on. She said her English teacher didnt seem too concerned - but dont know if this is because they dont want to stress her out on day1. Apart from that she was happy. She said Maths went well which I was pleased about because its not her best subject.

Languages are DDs thing and she also saud French was easy too.

She didnt call home last night but I know she had English 2, Maths 2, Chemistry and Spanish yesterday. So am obviously hoping that went well. Because she didnt call home last night I have no idea what she has today. Waiting for 7pm to see if she calls tonite.

I am also in shreds - wondering what the hell I will be like waiting for the results next week after pretending I am really chilled out all weekend about it infront of DD when she comes home on Saturday!!

Apparently the school marking the papers is asked to let your current head know by Tuesday next week if your DC has totally ballsed it up there are any problems. We are assuming that if we haven't heard by Wednesday then all is well.

I'm sure both our DCs will be fine though.

Have vowed not to mention exams at all to DS this weekend, he's going to Leavers camp most of next week to unwind; I feel as if I will need therapy Confused. God knows what I'll be like when he's doing his A levels!

Colleger · 13/06/2012 13:01

Just think we've got exam angst to deal with for the next five years in a row once they start secondary school! Whoopee!

Queenofcake · 13/06/2012 15:52

Collager that what I was thinking - this is just the start!

Ingrid Well DD has a hospital appointment next Tuesday which means she will be out of school all day ( I am even considering keeping her home from the weekend until afterwards to save 400 miles of driving in 48 hours). I have visions of us being sat in the hospital being told the results. Our Head said that some girls schools can take a while to mark their papers but saying that DD has been invited (conditional on passing CE) to a trial weekend next weekend at the school, so would imagine we would hear something by then.

I am trying not to think that far ahead yet and will speak to the Head on Saturday when I pick the girls up from school and then grill the poor man as to when he thinks we will know.

DD is the only one from her school going onto her new school so at least we wont have the worry of news filtering through that some people have their results from the same school whilst waiting to hear.

We'll be here asking for hand holding next week Grin.

Hooray! It's over. DS1 has gone AWOL in North London and says he isn't going to get out of bed for 3 days.

Queenofcake · 14/06/2012 14:15

LOL DD has 1 more Spanish paper this afternoon then thats it!!

Hope you and your DC all have a nice weekend before waiting for the results next week.

Good luck its good news everyone.

DS sat CE 3 years ago & is now completing his IGCSE/GCSEs & tonight spends his last night at boarding school. Seems like yesterday when we worried over his various papers even though his preferred school was non selective & DS is exceptionally bright!

We heard back on the Monday (if I recall rightly?) His non selective sent confirmation of his place plus he'd scored highly enough for a day place at his plan B selective school.

Don't worry parents, the stress is nearly over.

elastamum · 15/06/2012 10:15

All done! DS has just put on his leavers shirt today and gone off on a trip as happy as larry. He didnt seem to do too much work or get at all stressed, but he is a bright (if dyslexic) teen so I am expecting all isOK.

At least it is the last time I will have to supervise his prep as from now on it will all be done at school. deep joy Grin

So how did everyones DC do?

I am very pleased to say DD passed. We were called by the new school last Friday afternoon with the news however, not the actual grades and results.

I am hoping DD will call this those today as she must surely have them by now.

Hope everyone else got into their first choice school. :0)

Just got back from shopping to find an answerphone message from DS to say that he's had his results back and he's got in!

I didn't really think that it wouldn't be OK, but I'm just so relieved that it's all over now.

Very well done to your DD Queenofcake, I hope her school has got lots of fun things coming up over the next couple of weeks!

Queenofcake · 21/06/2012 18:06

I know what you mean Ingrid - it is such a relief.

Congrats to you and your DS.
