Hello. Trying to decide between these two schools, so would be grateful for any comments both positive and negative. Concerns - is Milbourne too much of a hothouse? Is Radnor too risky being new and without performance markers? Thanks in advance.

ML only goes to 13...Radnor House to 18. So if you want to avoid the 11+/13+ go for Radnor House! I know a few people with children there and they are very happy. Good 2012 ISI report....but as you say, early days. Don't know anything about ML. Good luck.

We have been very pleased with ML: definitely a school for the quirky boy/girl, and despite Cognita-ization still pleasantly bonkers in culture and tradition.

If your child plays sports to a high level, ML is probably not for him: there is plenty of fresh air and sports, but year groups are too small to make much of an impact on league tables and he may find this disheartening.

For music and art, it is superb.

It does cater to the v clever child though - no doubt about it.

Great School Milbourne lodge and definitely whacky. However I think your slightly wrong regarding the sport, it ranges year on year, last year they had two sports scholars one to Wellington college and one to epsom college and one of the best rugby teams around. However it definitely depends on the yeargroup.

Vote for Radnor House here! DS is in year 9 and we are v pleased with it. Teachers approachable and enthusiastic and he can stay til he's 18. Ofsted has just rated it as oustanding in all areas and that is very much how we see it. I just wish it had opened years ago so he could have started in year 3!!
