Writing a letter for absence to the teacher??

Daft question coming...

My ds has a hospital appointment next week...what is the best way to inform the teacher..i.e. a note in ds school bag or a formal letter to the teacher??

A letter direct to the teacher. Doesn't need to be long or detailed. In case of an appointment you could include a copy of the apointment card. The letters are stored in your child's records in most cases. Also make sure it gets to the teacher, rather thans taying in DS's bag! As a teacher I prefered, where possible, to get the note in advance of an appointment, rather than afterwards too.

I prefer to have a letter, as I can file it. However , any short note will do. I wouldn't leave it in the school bag, or it might get left in the school bag IYSWIM

We have a reading/homework book . You can either write notes in the book itself or attach a sealed envelope.

thanks everyone, i will give a letter to the teacher along with the appointment letter. Its a follow up to the school eye test.
