Any experiences of Forest School, E17?

DS is currently 3 and we would go for entry at 4+ in 2013.

How many applications are made per place?
We are not wealthy - are we likely to be the poor people and have DS's life made hell for not having more cash?

Having been considering state until yesterday, you may be able to tell that this is all a bit of an afterthought/panic! Please help!

I live around the corner from it and have two friends who've sent children there but aged 11+ so I can't really help.

It's good a good reputation but is known to be fairly Christian in ethos if that bother's you at all.

Other local schools that should be considered are Bancroft's and Chigwell.

I'm sure the admin person (Head's secretary?) will tell you the ratio of applications per place but don't be scared of this. Most parents will apply for multiple schools and each child can only take up one place so divide by a third (or maybe a half) to get a more realistic idea of the ratio.

Good luck!

Hi,
I grew up in that area and went to Braeside School for Girls and then Chigwell. Perhaps things have changed since then, but it was certainly the case that the state education in the area was pretty bad. A number of my friends went to Forest as did my cousin and got a very good education and were happy there. Don't worry about not being as well off as other families. I was from a less well off family and I never felt under pressure due to that. The friends I made didn't care or even think about it.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. Those schools are a bit far for us. I dont think the state primaries are too bad but it seems to get a whole lot worse at secondary level.
