Hello,

We are moving to Walton-on-Thames in the next six months and would really appreciate any general advice on the local Montessori nurseries, state and private primary and secondary schools. We are believers (CofE) but not dedicated enough to go to church every Sunday so understand that Ashley would not be an option.

From my research, I have found the following schools...any feedback/advice would be gratefully received as we are just searching the house hunt! (our baby boy will be one in July).

Bell Farm
Burhill
Oatlands

St James'
Cleves
Heathside

Thank you very much.....

Not so much a note on the schools (although would say that if in Walton, you are unlikely to get into some of them due to catchment areas), but a recommendation for a nursery - it is called Whiteley Village Nursery - Whiteley Village is a residential retirement village in acres of woodland just by weybridge, hersham, walton borders - and the nursery is held in their cricket club. it's a morning nursery they can join when two and the ladies who run it are just LOVELY - really really recommend it. They use some montessori methods, but are also a 'forest school'. They don't have a website - but if you google it you will find the number and can arrange a time to visit.

Stage Coach Montessori is an excellent nursery in Walton. My DS1 currently attends and loves it (as do I). I would put your Dc's name down asap as it is very popular. Put DS2 name on the list when he was 4 weeks old!

Schools in walton are going through a lot of changes at the moment (for the better IMO). Schools in Weybridge are often viewed as "better" but that isn't alway the case.

You have to live very close to Oatlands to get in. Cleves though large is considered better than St James. You'll be lucky to get into Heathside (or St James) from Walton.
