PLAYGROUND GAMES - IDEAS PLEASE

I need ideas that my little boy's class can play in the winter. They play on the school field and there is no concrete area. There are swings and a wooden climbing area but they really need some games that involve imagination.

I have told them about throwing stones against a wall and the nearest to the wall wins and the teacher is going to show them how to play charades today. But what else.

There are 16 boys and all they do is charge around bumping in to each other, they are not allowed footballs so things are a bit desperate.

Help! R.

Fox and Geese

Leapfrog relay

It's a great shame the little fellows can't play football...why not, Rhiannon? Seems a bit harsh for small boys.

Marina, the head says they lose the balls in the woods which are out of bounds and they also hurt other children with the balls. She seems to be very frightened of being sued and she says she doesn't enough staff to supervise it all. R.

What is fox and geese?

One child is the farmer, and one the fox. The others are all geese. The farmer has to stop the fox getting the geese, and this involves the geese forming a sort of conga line behind the farmer. They have to move round as the fox can only get the last goose on the chain at any one time, and has to come past the farmer first. Everyone changes roles when the last geese have been caught.

Sorry to hear about the head's dilemma, I don't suppose you can have little boys plunging off into the undergrowth in search of footballs.

A result, a football has appeared in the playground, yippee! They've seen sense at last but his duffle coat is covered in mud! Don't care if it keeps them busy. R.
