Has anyone got any ideas for this homework that my 12 year old son received:-

"Choose a quality of water and make something that demonstrates your understanding of how that quality can be related to either god or baptism"

I really am flumoxed but could he make something like a car wash and use it to symbolise the water cleaning the car of its impurities (eg dirt and bird poo!) as water cleanses us in baptism? or a cardboard washing machine?

For goodness sake he is only 12!

I LOVE the idea of a car wash - you can relate it to Baptism - the going down into the water and being "cleansed" of sin and becoming a "clean" person in God as you come up out of the water - Do the car wash, do the car wash - Shoe box and the heads of two bottle brushes and some shiny paper hanging down in strips at the entrance. You can get DS to decorate it - he'll enjoy that use his name like "Daniel's Car Wash" - I'm sure you can fish out an old toy car from somewhere. It'll be the coolist!

So - the car wash or the collage!!!!!!???

Or... taking up WWB's quotation from John, he could 'invent' a magic cup that automatically filled itself up again after someone had a drink from it (thus symbolising the 'water' that Jesus offers the Samaritan woman at the well). Would need a straw to drink from and some sort of pipe linking cup to tap to refill it after use. Would have to be a design rather than something he actually made, but would be inventive.

Alternatively... God is infinite, the sea stretches out to the horizon, seems to have no end... could make a 'beach scene' (with telescope to survey the horizon).

Or how about a sort of 'dunking machine' for full immersion type baptism? Could be very 'Wallace and Grommit'!

Thanks for all your wonderful ideas. I think he is going to make the car wash. Will let you know Friday afternoon what the teacher thought of it. Thank you once again.
