Charity applying for grants

How many grants can a charity apply for at any one time?
Is there a limit?
After trying endlessly to involve the parents in our fundraising events, we have had to give up.....they are just not arsed!
So I put it to the committee that we should just concentrate all our efforts on applynig for grants, but we don't know if we are allowed to apply for more than 1 at a time.
Anyone have any knowledge re this?

There is no limit on the number of grants a charity can apply for at any one time. However, you clearly need to be careful if you apply for several grants for the same thing as you may break the conditions laid down by the grant givers.

So if we apply for several different grants, it would be best if we divided our want list between them all rather than just ask each charity for the same things, IYKWIM?

If money is given for a particular purpose it must be spent on that. If the amount you raise on grants to buy something exceeds the amount you spend you must either return the excess money or agree how the money is to be used with the givers.

You also need to check the terms of the grants carefully. Some may require you to raise a certain percentage of the amount required yourself rather than get it from other grants.
