Anyone here any experience of this school? Preferably at Prep part, but also Senior?

Have you tried posting on the Hitchin/Letchworth/Baldock Mumsnet Local board? Wondered if you might get more response there? I'm afraid I can't offer any concrete experience but my (very candid) friend teaches there part time on and off and she is pretty complimentary about it, which I take as a big thumbs up.

I am thinking about looking (we live very close) for my youngest, but we are late-comers to thinking about an independent school and our main focus at the moment is DS who will be starting reception in Sept. Am sorry it doesn't take boys...

I will post on the other board, but appreciate your feedback re your friend. If you are able, could you ask her if it is a genuinly happy caring environment there at prep level? I have no concerns re the academic side of things but not entirely sure I gelled with the Head of Prep so maybe that is affecting my perception.

Not sure where the comment I put up here on Sunday went but, I 'll say it again, in a nutshell: My daughter goes to St Francis, is in Reception, it is the BEST choice we could ever have made for our child! She is happy, the standard of teaching is excellent and she has come on in leaps and bounds since starting in September of 2011. I've certainly noticed her self-confidence has soared, she is extremely proud of her handwriting and has been teaching ME how to use my Macbook this weekend (they are engaged in an excellent ICT programme which starts at Kindergarten level upwards). Her photoshop skills have already surpassed mine! We chose St Francis in Letchworth because we were so dissatisfied with the standard of education in the State pre-school and then the school we were offered in Hitchin, it was a no brainer really. We decided to use my savings for her first two years and I plan to return to part time employment next year. We cannot be happier with the decision we made. The Head of Prep is fantastic and genuinely interested in each and every student in her department. Mrs Day is the best Reception teacher I have ever come across, I cannot sing this teacher's praises enough! The class sizes are small and each girl receives individual attention. You are more than welcome to IM me and I will gladly tell you about our experience of the Prep Dept and how pleased we are that our daughter is a St Francis pupil.
