Boarding School Parents : How often do you attend events ?

Intrigued .....
Various friends have their kids at boarding schools not far from home.
They seem to spend an inordinate amount of time vising the schools for sports / arts events.
If your kids are at BS in the UK and you are permanently in the UK, how often do you go to see them in an academic year?

Depends on the term. Last term visited DS on about 4 Saturdays to watch rugby matches at his school and then again when he played an away match about half an hour from home. DD not sporty so visited twice during term to go out for sunday lunch. Usually means we see them every two weeks as outside those times there are leaveout weekends etc

Every Wednesday afternoon and Saturday afternoon, and numerous music recitals.

Note to self, must look into finding house closer to school!!!

I am really excited that au am going to watch my son for the first time this Saturday.he has been at the school for two years but due to living overseas and having three other children this is the first time it has been possible !

Five times since September DS is full boarding and no exeats this term.

Half term - ten days
Three or four exeats of three days (over weekends)
Lunch every other Sunday apart from two closed weekends and one or two other weekends
A couple of Saturday matches
The odd excruciating concert or play

We both work full time and hardly ever got to his day school; but somehow we feel much more involved and part of the family at his boarding school, even though it is at least two hours away

Since Sept:

5 Exeats weekend (friday lunchtime to Sunday evening)
4 short weekends home (Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening)
10 day Half terms X 2
3 1/2 week Xmas Holiday
1 parents meeting
1 carol service
2 school concerts
0 matches

We now live 3 hours away - 6 hour round trip so dont get up as often as we used to and only attend matches that bring DC a little closer to our direction on the map.
