We are just starting to think about art colleges for foundation year and beyond. Anybody able to comment on what to look for?

Depends on what type of course you are looking for. I went to Heriot-Watt School Of Textiles in the Scottish Borders.

Excellent courses but in the middle of nowhere. The majoirty of courses are 4 year Honours degree.
It also has a pretty good name in the indusry if you're looking to get into textiles, fashion, buying or merchandising.

SCAT in Taunton (somerset College of Arts and Technology) do foundation year courses, they're suposed to be quite good; also Newport University specialises in Art and does foundation courses I believe. Both have websites. UCAS website will allow you to search colleges / Uni's for different courses, I would try that and then go to open days- I would never have chosen my Uni had it not been for the open day, and I am very glad I came here.

A friend of mine is doing fine art here (Newport) and really enjoying it, I am liking it here too and the Uni is great if you like smaller establishments- growing rapidly though, which I can see is essential but a bit if a shame as it's beautiful.
