dd has been told she has been targetted to have her phone pinched

dd has been told by a so called friend ,and now wont take it to school. Its a non flashy model which she was given for her birthday,so she could keep in contact with me, in case the school bus broke down (it is prone to do that).Although she seems to be holding her own, she has had a few run ins with the year bully, and he has put the word out. There seems to be a lot of hangers on who delight in being horrid. Bully has already been warned about suspension,over other transgressions ,so not so worried about him.
Its the hangers on and "friends" who dont support her and talk behind her back, that cause more pain.
What can she do, shes the type who will suffer
in silence and get more and more isolated.
Please ,opinions would be very welcome.

i'm sorry, but mobiles i nschool is a no-no in my mind. she is being very sensible in leaving it at home.

The problem seems to be a lot deeper than having to leave her mobile behind. It sounds as if she's being bullied in other ways, and the mobile is just the tip of the iceburg.

Has she spoken to anyone at the school about the bullying?

misdee- This mobile was to be used if the bus broke down, and to be turned off at all other times(dd is sensible about that). She is on the bus for an hour each end of the day and twice in December the bus broke down . If it hadnt been for someone elses mobile I would never have known where she was. As it was she was a hour late and came home with someone elses mum. She is an unworldly 11 year old. I understand your view but the school is ok about phones used as i have described ,and this really is a bully issue. I want to do the right thing but not make things worse.

no ,she puts up with a lot, and last weeks friends are telling tales to the hangers on.She has nick names, a bit of isolation, but its not total.I want to support her confidence before it crashes. Also i need to get an objective view, she can be quite sensitive. Not taking the mobile is the first act of obvious avoidance. Which is why im asking.

I actually think that the bullying needs to be addressed as a whole, and my first thought would be to go to the school and raise my concerns. Either to do it myself, or to get my dd to talk to her class teacher about it.
