Kissing

My ds (4) announced that he cannot kiss us because kissing spreads germs. On questioning him further we discovered that his new teacher (January intake to Reception) told him this.

I can sort of get my head around the point of such a statement but I must admit it has piddled me off a little. He wasn't the most willing kisser as it was. Do schools have to stamp out every childish bit of naiveity from children?

What does anyone else think? I told him to say that kissing releases endorphins which also help to stave off illness due to their positive effect on the immune system!

sorry didn't mean to be flippant but perhaps someone with a snotty cold was trying to kiss their friend? may explain what the teacher said..

I know - that is how I rationalised it. I hope it is my ds's shoddy interpretation of events rather than the teacher making sweeping statements though.

Well best they don't touch hands at all either since hand to nose/mouth transmission is terrible for catching germ nasties. God forbid tey sneeze or cough without using their hankies too!

The problem is that this is ridiculous as mouth to mouth contact is not a significantly more risky form of contact for catching bugs. Also, if it is that bad then clearly the child who is going to pass on this lergy that you fear will not be in school at all!!

KILL on the lips, grumpyfrumpy!!!!? PMSL!!!! That sounds dangerous!!
