Primary school in canary wharf

Son turns 3 May 2012 so looking for good primary school in Canary Wharf. Researching St Lukes looks good, is a CoE school so not sure the chances of getting in. I am within the catchment area. Or can anyone suggest good private school nearby. Maybe Blackheath area that would be easy to get to on public transport. Am I too late in applying to the good private schools as hear any have long waiting lists? Thanks

My dd younger so this is based on early research and friends' experiences. Have heard Sir William Burroughs in Limehouse is v good at adding value even for v bright. Blackheath High (but seem to have v young pupils despite High name) do a pick up by coach around the island. Also my friends rave about St Alphege in Maritime Greenwich (so dlr to cutty sark).
St Luke's oversubscribed and based on church attendance I think, also Canary Wharf College.
But think church attendance will help alot. Have heard of non- churchgoers being allocated Brick Lane school when live near Islsnd Gardens due to population shifting faster than school place provision. Good luck!!

Thanks! Does anyone have any info on The Canary Wharf College? Having only opened in Sept 2011 have no idea if this is a decent school.

I shall mark a place on this thread then! I too would love to hear anything you know about canary wharf college, it's near our house so would be a perfect spot for DS2 when he's older but I do know they're accepting reception admissions now OP

When my DD had her vaccination I was chatting to the nurse whose DD is at Canary Wharf College. She seemed genuinely happy about the school, and said the school is very supportive and academic. The headteacher used to be the head at Faraday School, a private school in East India Quay. Quite a few parents moved their children from Faraday to CWC because of her, including the nurse. I heard that there are plans to expand the school to include nursery and secondary... Not sure when that will materialise though.

I work in Canary Wharf and volunteer at the Cyril Jackson school in Westferry. It is an absolutely amazing school, I would love to be able to send my children there. I live in Blackheath and the private options are Blackheath prep (hot house, hugely oversubscribed, tests at 3), Blackheath high (girls only, good reputation), Pointers (this is where mine go, I am very happy with it but tends to be a bit like Marmite) and Heath House which I don't know much about except that it is very cramped.

Hello, just wondering if you could help with a few questions about Pointers as I am considering pointers for year 1 and weighing up the pros and cons. What do you like and don't like about the school?

My DS goes to Canary Wharf College, is making great progress and loves the school! I recommend it wholeheartedly.

I agree. Best to stay clear. Whilst the current Exec Principal is there, there will never be any true transparency, accountability and the vulnerable will be failed. I speak as a current parent.
