Anyone in Kent?

After my rant on another thread, I hope anyone in kent can help me. We are moving to the Canterbury area of Kent and will need to find schooling for our dd, who has special needs. I would be very grateful to anyone who knows about schools or especially special schools in the area. Numbers to ring etc. TIA

I think with special schooling the school can be up to 20 miles away

Fio I posted a link to Up My Street on your other thread.

Hi fio2, I,m moving to feltem/ashford. I have checked the "upmystreet" website, it gives you a list of the schools in the area you want. Then you can fone the school and ask for a prospectus, this has lots of details about the school, then you can make an appointment with the headteacher of the school you want. I'm waiting for the headteacher to get back to me. Hope this helps you too.

What sort of special school? Most of the schools here in Kent are for inclusion. There are sp schools but few & far between & it depends on your child's needs.

Education Authorities here- East Kent covers Canterbury, Dover &Thanet 01227 772992; Mid Kent Ashford, Folkestone & Maidstone 01233 639677.

Thanks tallulah. She goes to a school for physically disabled children at the moment - they kids from 2 -7 , so it is more like a nursery. I had spoken to a couple of people on the phone who also said it is more inclusive down in kent. I will try to ring those numbers tommorrow, thanks again everyone
