Secondry school teacers ........Help

My DD is a bit mouthy. but on the whole a good girl!
She repetedly gets in to trouble in one lesson, nothing in other lessons.
should i ask for her to be moved from this lesson?

What lesson is this, and what is happening in that lesson?

does she have a guidance teacher or year head or form tutor that you could discuss it with?

better to get in touch with the school and ahve a chat with someone and find out what the issue is rather than leave it to linger

could it be a personality thing with this one teacher? are others mucking about in this class and getting into trouble too?

how old is she?

History. She is cheeky and answers back.
She has complained about the teacher to me before, saying he picks on her. He spells her name wrong, then sends her out if she asks him to put it right.
I am not defending her as I know how she will say this, i wish she would just keep quiet.
she was in trouble before christmas for trouble with another girl, but this is sorted and was a one off, where the history thing seems to be on going.

I would have a word with her form tutor and see if her behaviour in this lesson could be monitored (we use monitoring sheets to do this where I work).

I can see that it is tempting to hoik her out, however she would be better sorting out some coping stratgies, much more useful in the ong ter.

Re the 'He is picking on me' thing. I'll confess that there are kids who think that I pick on them. I don't, I pick on their behaviour. I asked a whole class to assess my teaching, one of the questions was Is your teacher fair, does she pick on you?

Two kids out of 26 said yes.....you guessed it the disruptive ones

The teacher should get the name right, however we are only human and there are ways and ways of correcting the teacher!

Contact the form tutor and have a chat. Ask him/her what could be done. If it were me I'd suggest a monitoring sheet and some soft rewards if she does well, from you, and also praise from the teacher.

I know the picking on me thing is 'everyones wrong but me' but it doesnt happen in other lessons. Its been going on a while and now she has an after school detention, despite speaking to staff at school

Sometimes there can be a clash of personalities, it does happen, teachers shouldn't be we are only human. I have several children on report for that exact reason. Sometimes it happens if a child doesn't like a subject much or finds it hard. You often find that your 'bete noire' child is a total angel is some one else's lesson

As a general warning thing get worse untill late year 9, then things tend to get bettwe....as a rule, not always. I'm dreading the hormone pixie with my dd, she can be enough of a pain at 9

so I have another year of this! Fantastic!!!
School dont seem to do anything! Maybe they are, I just dont see it.
I want her out of trouble, so therefore out of the class!! But maybe thats wrong.
Feel so down about it. She can be such a lovely girl. why is she doing this?

Coulple of possible reasons.

a. she could be right and the teacher is out to get her.....quite unlikely but it can happen. have a chat with the form tutor....bottom line is we don't have enough ime in the day to decide to pick on someone
b. she could be bored, out of her depth or just plain not like the subject and is acting out because of it.....how many of us, as adults do things that we don't like....andswer probably none of us, but we expect kids to do it. she may want to escape the class.
c. Because she likes the excitement of winding the teacher up, and the attention that it gets her...remember when toddlers wind you up, just to get your attention ,even if it is negative? Well teenagers do it too!

d. they all do it at some point. even the very best of them. She is a kid, and being a kid is all about pressing the boundaries, to see what happens. Don't beat yourslef up. Point out that Mrs
