Moving to London and wondering if I my DD with be 3 in June, when should I register her for the state schools that have a nursery (3-11)? Is that cut-off date like the Reception of January 15? I know that you don't necessarily have to apply to the Local Authority but are there certain dates, and when do you hear if you get a place. Similarly, when do you usually hear about a Reception place if you apply in January?

Thanks,

Your local authority will have a website with all this information on it, surely.

At our primary school the deadline was December but it's worth putting your name on waiting lists anyway because there are plenty of changes. Pre-schools all seem to have their own admission criteria, from waiting list only to age to church attendance, and many only ask for a voluntary contribution.
