Anyone got any recent experience of this school?

Looks gorgeous and says all the right things on t'interweb and I will go to an open day. Just wondered if anyone knew anything 'from the inside'?

my friend has 2 sons there and loves it. her boys are dyslexic and the learning support is great apparently.

aah yes I am very interested too...appears very welcoming and strong on the pastoral side and facilities are lovely, Given its non selective...how would you rate the academics?

EBDteacher · 09/12/2011 21:04

I am wondering about that too amber2. However, it's not like there is anywhere selective in the area so that is not an option.

Caldicott is not selective either but their leavers' list is Eton, Winchester, Radley, Harrow etc whereas Lambrook's is Wellington, Bradfield etc- definitely a level down.

On the other hand Lambrook is 3-13 which appeals to me over having to find a suitable pre-prep for Caldicott.

I thought I'd made my mind up and was going to do Ridgeway/ Caldicott but now I'm being swayed by the fact that Lambrook seem to be pulling their socks up.

Confused

Sorry amber2 I have kind of assumed you are also looking for DS there which of course is not necessarily the case.

Am looking for DS who is academic and quirky with it - was actually leaning to Lambrook on the basis of the pastoral care and because it's pretty broad i terms of the next destination senior schools and i want to keep my options open. As you said not many are selective in this area - which I don't mind at this age provided the school adds value ...interested that you said Lambrook is oulling their socks up - can you elaborate?

It is only an impression- not something I know based in any fact! They are doing a lot of investment in the (already good) facilities, they have a new website and prospectus. Their 'development plan' includes talk of securing a position as the leading co-ed prep in the South East. All fighting talk- I get the impression that it is not a school resting on it's laurels.

I am going to go to the March open day and see what I think face to face! At the moment I am feeling pretty keen on it.

Just found this post from a few year backs and thought I'd update it in case it gave the wrong impression.
Lambrook's leaver list includes Eton, Harrow, Charterhouse, Stowe, Hampton etc as well as Wellington and Bradfield as mentioned.
The years are big (50ish in some cases) so the range of academic abilities is quite varied. There is an accelerated class though in years 7 and 8 for potential scholars (as well as the usual sets for core subjects in lower years)
