does anyones 3 yr old go to playschoool/nursery all day 5 days a week?

would it be too much for a child to suddenly go to playschool in the am, have dinner and then go to nursery in the pm? my 3 year old starts nursery in the pm next wednesday and the nursery teacher say that some of them go to playschool in the mornings too. I wondered if that would be too tiring.

There are lots of children who go to something 5 days a week all day because their parents work ...
It could be tiring going to two different places in one day ... and coming home for lunch in the middle might be too much too ...
My friends 3 year old goes to Creche 5 mornings a week and then on three afternoons he has lunch there and then gets walked around to the kindergarten from there. He seems to be enjoying it ... but then he doesn't come home to his mum for lunch in the middle.

she wouldn't come home to me either for the first few weeks as i am working. If i chose to ry it I would drop her at playschool for 8.45 and mum would pick her up at 11.30 and take her to her house then take her to nursery for 12.40 and I would pick her up at 3.10.

my other option is to send her to playschool maybe 2/3 mornings and my in laws/parents watch her the other mornings .

this is just until I finsih work for mat leave in a few weeks time.

If I were you I would go with the 'other' option you mention with help from her grandparents. If they are happy with that that is (my MIL would rather eat poo than look after her grandchildren ). I think it is nice for pre schoolers to get some home time (whether it be with the parents OR grandparents OR indeed a childminder) during the week if possible (that is purely my opinion, not a dig at working parents!!!)

I personally wouldn't go 5 days a week mornings at one place and afternoons at another ... with lunch somewhere else ... but as it will only be for a few weeks it could just tide you over for a time ...

We did a bit with ds1 when he was 4. School wouldn't have him full time, so he was in school until 11.30 and then home for lunch then in school in the afternoon. As a parent I woud say it was an absolute PITA - especially the lunch bit- too rushed. He didn't seem to mind it. If I had my time again I would refuse to do it tbh, but that's with hindsight.

It probably depends on the child, so no hard or fast answer.

But my preference is for your second option - as it is more consistent. And less of that disruption, ferrying around/getting in and out of clothes and possibly car, all by different people (all whom she knows and trusts of course) to the lovely tune of a clock.

The other consideration is that interacting with one lot of kids at playschool and another lot at nursery in the same day is quite a lot to take on - esp at 3 when her peers could still be working out their aggressive tendencies. But then again, your dd might be fine. JMO

my dd1 was just 4 when she started full time nursery, she was at the state nursery in the morning then they would walk her to the private nursery next door, where she would have lunch and then stay till 3pm. I was lucky because she has SN so it was all funded by the education dept. She enjoyed it.

My dd2 (now 4.4) goes 4 ams and 5 pms (different playschool/nursery.
She has built up gradully. Was at p/s from May 2004 2 ams thenincreases to 5 ams.Sept 2005 she started nursery 5 pms and now doe p/s 4 ams as well.She is very lively and still is not really tired every night!
Some days I give her lunch and some it is my parents.
I wouldn't do all this at once though.

dd did a term of 3 mornings playgroup/4 afternoons preschool which in practice meant 2 days a week she did both morning and afternoon sessions with lunch at home in between. She was just over 3 1/2 and coped fine. She then went into full time Reception at just turned 4.
