Childcare courses

Hi,

I hope I?m posting this in the right place (my first post, so please bear with me).

Before my little ones came along I enjoyed studying and completed many distant learning courses. I would like to start doing this again and would like the courses to be child orientated but I don't know where to start looking. Most courses I have found require the student to have a job in childcare (or at least a voluntary position) but my job is not connected to childcare at all.

Can anyone advise me where the best knowledge based courses can be found?

Thank you for any advice you might have.

I work in childcare and our nursery would not even consider employing anybody who had done their training by distance learning. You absolutely need the experience of working with children (being a parent doesn't really count) as well as a relevant qualification. Which is why all the courses you have found require you to be working or volunteering in the sector.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I do not wish to get a job in childcare, I just want to study a childcare course, something that may help with my own children, which is why I am looking for a knowledge based course. Do you know of any?

Maybe see if there are any Open University courses that appeal? Something in child development/psychology.

Something like this - Understanding Children and Young People

Hello, I am hoping to become a childminder. Does anyone know of the best online training course organizations so I can qualify? Thank you!

Try Koru Kids or similar.

Reed free courses have a childcare course for free available, it is a level 2 course.
Each module is marked and you receive feed back, there are deadlines on finishing each section

It’s a level 2 course www.reed.co.uk/courses/level-2-certificate-in-introducing-caring-for-children-and-young-people/298892

Thank you. Will look at that.
