Heathcote School, Danbury. A long shot!

I had forgotten completely about the existence of this school til we drove through Danbury this last summer, so I could show my DSs where I started Primary (Danbury's St John's C of E) in -gasp- 1966!

I have a weird question that popped into my mind:

What was with the red or blue uniform?? At first I assumed boys and girls, but then I realised that it wasn't gender specific! I recall the uniform was grey (as was ours) but either with blue piping + beret/cap or red.

Why?

Probably houses or something like that. I used to live round there, it did used to be grey

Yes, you're probably right but I recall being surprised even then how different both uniforms were- not just a flash on a pocket or whatever!

I went to Elm Green round the corner from there in the early seventies, our uniform was red and grey. I used to know the daughter of the headmistress there, can't believe it's still going as a school!

When I was 'researching' it - when it randomly popped into my mind- i did se a 'profit warning' or similar from 2010 but the website is still up and running so I assume they've survived.

Interestingly when I was training as a HCP I met a young dentist who'd been there but he didn't recall why the uniform was either red or blue!

My daughter attends Heathcote School at Danbury and dispite a set back in 2010 the school is going from strength to strength. It is a fantastic school which treats every child as an individual. The uniform is Blue and Grey, I think the Red uniforms you have seen belong to other schools in the area. St Johns and Elm Green both have Red and Grey and are very near to Heathcote.
