Hi, we are moving to VW in Dec and are looking at local schools, does anyone have any experience of St Ann's Heath Primary? This is our nearest state school so will be our first consideration.

Supposed to be superb. Have many friends with children there. Severely oversubscribed. They have waiting lists of 33. I know becasue I phoned to enquire. Any other specific questions you wnat answered, just ask, and I will ask my friend for you.

I know the head!

It is the same as the competitor schools - St Jude's Englefield Green and Manorcroft in Egham - they are all much of a muchness.

If St Ann's is your nearest school, then you should put it at the top of your list. There is no advantage in trying for St Jude's or Manorcroft. This is assuming that your children are already at Thorpe or Christchurch and you are looking for a junior school rather than primary.

Apparently there are very few non sibling places this year

It's not that hard to get into - there are plenty of students from Egham and Englefield Green going there (ie 3 - 5 miles away). Just apply if you want it.

OP - I just saw on the mumsnet local thread that your child is 3 - St Ann's Heath is a junior school not a primary which means it takes children from aged 7/yr 3. Most local children go to three or four local infant schools and then move on to St Ann's Heath and other local junior schools.
