Teachers - one day's supply or 0.2

I have a 0.2 contract to work one day a week at school. I work another day a week, which I claim supply for. This arrangement is planned to last all year until July. Am I losing out by being paid supply rates, rather than asking for another 0.2 contract. I am UP3 if that makes a difference.

Don't know how it is where you are but I worked similar 0.4 contract, 0.4 supply in the past. It worked out exactly the same pay wise here. The supply rate was more than contracted rate but you weren't paid for as many holidays so it evened itself out over the year.

Supply rates are likely to be on MPS, so you would be better of if you could successfully negotiate all the time at UPS3. However, there may not be the money available and if you are stubborn, they may offer it to someone else.

As long as you aren't being paid through an agency, the supply day should be calculated as 1/195th of you salary point. This means that if you work every day of the school year you have earned the same as someone who is contracted on the same salary point as you. You just don't get paid during holiday periods.
