Which areas are best for my DC schooling? Mates up there have mentioned Chorlton, Didsbury and other areas of South Manchester (Wilmslow, Sale?)

DD is 4, we're looking to move when she is Y1. Please can anyone help?

Wilmslow, Alderley and Mottram St Andrew are all nice with good schools, but they are more Cheshire than Manchester to be honest.

It depends if you want to be in South Manchester or not. If you do, Wilmslow may be getting a bit too far out, it can easily take 45 minutes or longer to get in when busy.

Sorry delayed replying - just posted on another thread about this too, thanks Scatterchasse. I'm going to be working in Manchester centre so ideally South Manchester. Is that journey by car or train?

Other mentioned Altrincham, Hale and Bowdon - are they closer to centre?

Thanks for your help tonight.

By car.

Altrincham is definitely closer, but sort of to the south west, whilst Wilmslow etc. are dead south.

You could look at Cheadle and Gatley too, but I don't really know much about the schools there I'm afraid.
