Do you love or hate your PTA? What do they do or you wish they did that's great? Have just been to an end of term meeting & think my PTA is way too obsessed with what's wrong at the school. Would love some positive ideas to suggest next time

I would love to be part of the PTA but all their meetings are held during school time and I work ! Grrrrr

Yes today's was at 3.30 so had to get DH to swap work around & look after kids. Maybe PTA's should have some babysitting scheme whilst meetings are on?

Our PTA has meetings at varied times, 9am, 3.30pm or sometimes in the evening in the pub.
We have recently (in last year or 2) had a new head and a lot of new blood in the PTA. Ours was becoming a bit stagnant, miserable and dispondent.

I think it takes someone quite brave to come in and change things, inject some life, but IMHO it is greatr if you can because its given us a new lease of life, new enthusiasm.

Our PTA is always Friday at 2.30 and I am at work so can't go, my Dad helped at the xmas fair though!

Love our PTA! I have become really involved and am now treasurer!!!!!!!!We dont moan about the school just do great fundraising and enjoy it.All our meetings are after school-so a creche is provided.
We go out for dinner and the end of year barbeque is the social event of the year(particularly if the weather is good)
It does help that the school is small-only 100 pupils from 4yrs-11yrs

I would love to be involved with out PTA, but it seems really cliquey. I went to one meeting, and then turned up for the next meeting to find it had been cancelled. They'd told all of the regulars personally, but not made it generally known.

I've now no idea when the next meeting will be (and I do need some notice so that I can arrange for babysitters), and in some respects I wonder whether I should bother.

I joined the pta last year and have found it very satisfying. It is a shame more parents do not get involved. We raised over £8,000 last year, most of this was at Christmas, and hope to do even better this year.

I help where I can but meetings are always on the days I work, I did swap my days so I could help at the summer fair though.

We could do with some new fundraising ideas though - what sort of things does your school do?
