Christmas nativity update....

Just back from dd?s Christmas play, those of you who were kind enough to help me out beforehand with my halo crisis may recall that she was Whoops-a-Daisy angel, didn?t really realise to what extent she was the star. She had to stand up there and deliver several lines which she did with such confidence and verve I nearly burst with pride (and blubbed of course). She?s only 4.5 bless her. It was fab.
It wasn?t even spoiled when one of the shepherds had a small accident (oh dear).

More tales from the nativity frontline welcomed....

Sounds lovely Clary. My ds was an elf and did really well. There was a general 'aah' when he blew a kiss from the stage to his little sister who was watching him with me.

I wept buckets at the reception children by the way. Little quavery singing voices

Blandmum · 14/12/2005 16:46

ds was Joseph....v proud Mummy. He looked utterly devine!

dd was superb and a very fetching sheep!

wewishyouaClaryChristmas · 14/12/2005 16:50

yes puddle it's the singing in little quavery voices and the waving to mummy in the audience which gets me every time.

ds1 was a king taking myhr to baby jesus.

Mummy couldnt go as one of the twins was at hospital.

so gutted as this was his 1st nativity

tamum · 14/12/2005 17:36

We had Whoops-a-Daisy Angel too, it's quite a starring role, isn't it? Ours wore a radio mike like Madonna .

Dd's drawing was on the front of the program And ds is starring as the 4th piper tomorrow

My son (4.5) was a sheep and half way through had a minor skirmish with the sheep sitting next to him over who had jogged whose sheep mask! All captured on video...

Well having been banned from his nativity play last year, ds1 was a very fantastic xmas tree. He was dressed in an amazing outfit with flashing lights and a woolly hat (ds1 in a hat!! And a wool one!!!!) with tinsel on. The outfit was paper-he wouldn't have worn that a year ago. He smiled at the music, really grinned during the performance (the class teachers were all dressed up as elvis) and only went to wander off the stage once. When he finsihed he went up to the head of the junior school and appeared to give her a kiss (!) big hug anyway. Such a huge difference from last year, The concert was an hour and a half and he sat though most of it (last year he hadn't managed 2 minutes in an assembly). It was lovely. The usual chaos, lovely glittery snowfalkes sent around the hall in a parachute, but aboslutely lovely. The children all did really well (they are all severely disabled, many can't talk and a lot can't walk, but they all took part).

DS2 has his turn on Friday. He is a fox and has a speaking part. He has to say "the reindeers have gone into the woods". Making a fox outfit is a nightmare (luckily I didn'thave to make the xmas tree one- his teacher did).

I was so pleased for your ds1 Jimjams. Really. It sounds absolutely lovely.

ImdreadinganAUTIExmas · 14/12/2005 23:19

I told his teacher he'd been banned from last years and he said "I can't really imagine him being banned from anything". So lovely to be in the right place. He was banned from everything in mainstream!!! I used to LOATHE nativity plays- it was a real case of spot the freakshow. I was actually pleased he was banned last year so I didn't have to go and torture myself with it. So this year was extra special. It really was fantastic.

thecattleareALOHing · 14/12/2005 23:21

Sadly, I did get the impression that ds is regarded as their 'problem child' - though he's so lovely. And he was definitely the cutest sheep. And he starts his new nursery in Jan.

gingernut · 14/12/2005 23:33

ds1, who is nearly 4, was due to be a king in his first nativity play today, but he ended up being given the part of Joseph because the original Joseph was ill. Very proud mummy moment, although he and Mary looked as though they'd had a lover's tiff and I was a bit when he started picking his nose and eating the snot at the end . All caught on video.

wewishyouaClaryChristmas · 15/12/2005 08:59

gingernut lol at ds picking his nose!
jimjams I didn't know that was you!!!
Answered you stroppily on another thread, sorry about that.
Anyway how fab for ds1, sounds like he did really well.
Oooh feeling all christmassy now.

Aww Aloha- I know that feeling (although we only ever had it at ms school- not nursery- so I think it is place dependent iykwim).

Did you clary- I didn't notice!

BluStocking · 16/12/2005 18:22

Aaah, Baka/Jimjams/AutieChristmas - that sounds absolutely brilliant. Good luck with the fox outfit...they shouldn't expect any costume that isn't a teatowel on head, should they?

wewishyouaClaryChristmas · 16/12/2005 21:19

Oh good jimjams, I'm glad you didn't notice. Maybe I disguised it well.
DS1 had his concert today and it was great, some children did little intros to the songs (not ds1 thank goodness he wd think) and one girl had 3 lines to sing solo she did very well.
Was lovely.
This is where I really start to love the festive season (sniff, sniff)

I've searched (I'm sad) and I can't even find it! Do you mean the thing in media? That wasn't a go!

My little fox said his line very clearly, and knew all the actions. His tail was a work of art (my mum made it). He was great. Unfortunately he is now in bed with a temperature

wewishyouaClaryChristmas · 17/12/2005 21:26

jimjams, sorry only just seen yr reply, yes, I meant the thing in media. sorry about that!
Bless yr little fox, how is he today?
