Information on schools in Scotland

We are considering a move from England to Scotland in the next year or so and in order to make a decision about where to live etc. I need information on schools, both primary and secondary. Could anyone direct me to the Scotland equivalent of Ofsted, Scottish League tables, exam results etc.? Also a source of information on how the Scottish system works with regard to school starting ages, catchment areas, exams systems etc. would be lovely. Many thanks!

Might be better to start your own thread. :)

We're in the Falkirk council area and my dc learn French at nursery (pre school year) and in P1.

There is a Gaelic programme which you can take part in outwith school - saturday classes and usually do a week or so in the summer - singing songs in Gaelic, games and poems etc. Dd dis it one year in the summer (as it was free!)
It is not taught on schools.....or any I'm aware of...

12.5 hours of free nursery provision. ( most primary schools have nurseries attached).
