Has anyone moved a few months after their child has started a new school ?

and if so what is the proceedure for getting them into a new school in a new area before you have actualyy moved into the new house

Yes, we moved from london to country in December when my dd had started reception in september!

The procedure is, I think, phone them all up, have a look around the ones that have spaces in the relevant year, and see what you think. If there is one or more which really stand out as great and they don't have space you may be able to persuade them to let you in anyway (this is more effective with private than state I think, and you have a better chance with private if you have some other children waiting in the wings so you can show them a long term income stream lol).

To find what schools are in the area (if you don't already know) the BBC education website has a v good searchable database by postcode which tells you which schools are nearest, and links to rankings, Ofsted reports etc. For private the good schools guide is good but actually misses out quite a lot of good pre-prep/prep so don't assume that if a school isn't in there it is crap.
It is more reliable for senior schools.

Was so delighted to have some lunch, hadn't been able to eat since 5pm last night, the baby was kicking me in the stomach in protest all morning!
