Where can I find out about local evening classes?

I have just moved to a new area and feeling really down about everything, so I have decided i need to do an evening class in something to perk myself up a bit and meet some new friends...
but how can I find out about local classes? In London I bought 'Hot Courses' publication which covered all classes in London area. But there doesn't seem to be anything like that here. Googling just brings up private companies advertising one-off courses, instead of a whole variety IYSWIM. Please help! I need to kick-start my new life!

Your local library might have details, and if you have a look in your local phone book you should find Adult Education Centres listed.

Local library or ours are run through the local Further Education college at smaller local sites.

Try your local Further Education College. They often coordinate evening courses. Or probably there should be an office in the council which deals with this...

Have just googled my local district council, and they have an 'adult and community education service'. Yours will probably have something similar.

HTH... sorry it's not very specific.

Adult Education - contact your local council. All areas do it. Check out their website or go to you local library as suggested, they should have a publication, esp at the moment because they will be booking soon for January term.
