South Hampstead High School

We're moving back to London, is anyone able to say whether places ever come up at South Hampstead High School? I realise every year is different, but I'm keen to find out how likely we are to get a vacancy. Thank you.

not likely at all tbh.

they are vastly oversubscribed at 5 (and so have a huge waiting list for pre-prep) and then when they take another intake at 8, the waiting list diminishes but is still there

Thank you for your message. Would you know about senior school?

My daughter got a place when a vacancy came up in year 4, later that year a friend of hers did the same thing and the next year a third friend got a place the same way. They did have to sit an assessment at short notice, which seemed to be for about 10 girls for 1 vacancy. So it's possible! From our experience 1-2 girls leave every year for a variety of reasons including moving out of the area. My advice would be make an appointment with the headmistress to tour the school and put your dd on the wait list.

Thank you, Sobeda. That's really good advice.
